Description:
Map of Manchester. Omnibus routes and railway stations are marked in red. The old Town Hall is on the corner of Cross Street and King Street. In the bottom left-hand corner is the Art Treasures Palace. The palace was built at Old Trafford in Manchester to house the Art Treasures Exhibion of 1857. The exhbition was the largest of its kind ever held, and brought together some of the greatest works of art, borrowed from the country's private collections. A special railway line was laid to transport visitors from the city centre. After the exhibition the palace was dismantled.
