Silver casket, engraved with views of the John Rylands Library, Deansgate, Manchester. The casket was presented to Mrs Enriqueta Augustina Rylands in October 1899, along with a scroll bearing the Freedom of the City of Manchester. This view is of the engraved side of the casket. Two hallmark symbols can be seen near the bottom; the lion passant (walking lion) is the symbol for English sterling silver (925) and the Z indicates the year 1899.
