The new roof is being constructed on the Wood Street elevation of the John Rylands Library, Deansgate, Manchester. The pitched roof follows closely Basil Champneys' original plans. The joists and purlins are supported on concrete padstones, set into the existing shallow-pitched concrete roof, which has been left in situ.
