View of the vaulted ceiling of the Reading Room in the John Rylands Library, with mason Paul McDermott inspecting the ceiling. The internal scaffolding structure was erected to permit inspection and repair of the ceiling, which has also recently been vacuum cleaned to remove surface dirt. Construction and restoration work is being undertaken by Linford Building Ltd, successors to the firm who worked on the original Library building in the 1890s.
