Description:
Six photographic portraits of Jevons' associates, some with the initials of the person and the date the photograph was taken. Print 75: unidentified lady; Print 76: Mrs G.; Print 77: unidentified lady; Print 78: Mrs N. (Mrs Emma Newton, with her daughter Catherine Dinah Newton in a push-chair); Print 79: unidentified lady; Print 80: Mrs K. (Mrs Knipe). The photographs are in a collection of photographs of Australia, taken or compiled by William Stanley Jevons during the 1850s. Between 1854-1859 Jevons was employed as assayer at the Sydney mint and also carried out detailed social surveys of the city's slums. Mrs Newton was the wife of Joseph newton, Engineer of Machinery at the Sydney mint. Mrs Knipe was the wife of Elliott Arthur Knipe, Registrar and Accountant ant the mint.
