Fig. 1, Drawing by Mrs Cecil Firth of a mummy of a priest of Ammon of the XXIst Dynasty (1000 BC) showing in lateral view the protrusion of the spine so commonly seen in Pott's disease. Fig. 2., An untouched photograph of the anterior aspect of the mummy, showing the huge psoas abcess into which pus from the tuberculous lesion in the lumbar vertebrae had drained. The mass was soft at the time of embalming.
