Description:
|
Letter from J. Compton Hall to Lord Stamford. He has written to Lady Stamford re the North windows, and has altered the detailed drawings of the bay and other windows in the Dining Room to show them as sash windows, in accordance with Lady Stamford's wishes. "We must give up all thought of getting any colour into the glass of this room - which I hoped to make lead glazing in order to warm up a sunless room, but lead glazing & colour are in my opinion not suitable in the ordinary sash windows." Asks for Lord Stamford's directions re the new floor for the South Entrance, and asks him to send examples of quarterings, crests or mottoes suitable for working in with any carving.
