Description:
Summer 1907 edition of Yggdrasill; created by the students of Ashburne House. The cover is relatively simple, brown-coloured with the lettering in white paint. The title is spelt 'Iggdrasill' and the Editors are noted by name: E. Watson & E. Thomas. There is a title page that reiterates the names of the Editors and title of the magazine, followed by the first article 'The Picnic' on page one. The article has been illustrated with original photographs. Underneath the item on page two are two more photographs which relate to the account on page twelve, of the fancy-dress ball. On page three there is a continuation of 'Travels in Japan' from the account begun in the last edition by Margaret Phillips. This article has also been illustrated with a number of original photographs. On page nine is a write-up of the 'Ancoats Party' the children's party hosted regularly at the Hall, complete with photographs of some of the games. Following this on page twelve is a summary of the 'masked fancy-dress ball' decorated with more photographic images of some of the attendees. The Editorial appears on page fifteen; it opens with a welcome to Miss Richard who is to be the Assistant-Warden of the Hall from the next session. Thanks are given to the new contributors but also for the continued support by old Ashburnians in submitting articles. The examination results for the session are listed on page seventeen, followed by details of scholarships, medals and prizes. Finally on page twenty are some 'Notes' to the edition which include further congratulations on academic achievement, details of the annual picnic and the news that the 'Baby party' had to be cancelled due to a case of Measles.
