Lent 1906 edition of Yggdrasill, created by the students of Ashburne House. The illustrated cover has the title spelt 'Iggdrasill' and Ashburne House Magazine, Lent Term 1906. There is also a small black ink tree. The index is on folio one with the Editorial on the verso. The Editorial notes an increase in the contributions to the magazine but repeat the invitation especially to first years to 'immortalise their names in the pages of yggdrasill'. There are two contributions from Old Ashburnians, Miss Cooper and Miss Brodmeier [?]. The articles begin on folio two with the 'Chronicle' update of life at the Hall; this has been penned by the warden H.D. Oakeley. This is followed on the verso of folio four with 'Hall marked Proverbs' which has been initialled A. J. T (Alison Uttley) and C. M. W. There is a poem on the verso of folio five which is untitled, but given as 'The Hockey Match' in the index. Directly opposite on folio six is a photographic portrait which has been tipped in, however there is no descriptive information. Next appear to pieces by old Ashburnians; 'A Manchester Lace-maker' by Elizabeth Brodmeier [?] is on folio seven, followed by 'The Cry of the Departed' by M. Cooper on folio eight. Another submission by H.D. Oakeley 'Poetry & Philosophy, an extract from a paper read to the Literary Circle "Some aspects of the Relation between Philosophy & Literature" appears next on folio nine (the order of the articles differ in order from the index) . Directly underneath on folio eleven is an untitled poem. Overleaf on the verso of folio eleven is 'Honey out of the Lion's mouth a humorous article on classical figures including Cicero, Euripides and Pindar which has been illustrated by tipped in cartoons. An essay entitled 'Life' follows on folio thirteen which has been submitted by K.H.C. Overleaf is a poem 'Argument' again by A.J.T (Alison Uttley). On folio seventeen is another poem 'A Lament' quickly followed by the standing item 'Athletic Notes' on the verso.
