10 February 1645: letters arrive from Warwickshire certifying that Colonel Fox and his men attacked the town of Dudley, which was under the Royalist command of Colonel Leveson, without any losses. Letters were also received on the same date from Colonel Massey recounting how, on Monday 3 February, he gallantly opposed the Kings forces near Gloucester and encountered them again the following day.
