Dante Alighieri 'La Commedia' (Commentator: Christophorus Landinus). Contains: Marsilius Ficinus: Ad Dantem gratulatio [Latin & Italian]. ISTC No.: id00029000. Folio. 20 copper engravings are known, from designs by Botticelli, to accompany the first 19 Cantos of the Inferno. Contains Inf 1.1 - Inf. 1.21 and Commentator by Cristoforo Landino on Inf. 1. The text of the poem is found on the left hand side of the page, surrounded by the Commentator. Illuminated initial 'D' in blue, red and gold. Copper engraving at the end of the canto and Commentator for Inf. 1. Initial 'H' in red ink.
