Description:
|
View of the Union Chapel, Oxford Road, Manchester. Gothic style architecture with distinctive brickwork and a tower with a spire. An elaborate tracery window can be seen on the front elevation. Railings enclose the chapel which can be accessed by a wrought iron gate. Built circa 1873 the Union Baptist Chapel on Oxford Road sat on a plot of land between St. Mary's Hospital and the Manchester Royal Infirmary. The chapel was designed by the architects Medland and Henry Taylor. Eventually the chapel was purchased by St. Mary's Hospital and demolished.
