View of the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Oxford Road, Manchester. Showing the front elevation of the church. The doorway contains two doors and has a gabled canopy containing a multifoil (stone tracery that resembles a flower) and pointed archivolt in the Gothic style, the church also has arched windows and towers. The church was designed by Joseph A. Hansom and built between 1869 and 1871 from coursed sandstone rubble. Since the original build, an extension to the front tower has been added, designed by Adrian Gilbert Scott, it was erected in 1928 in memory of Fr Bernard Vaughan, SJ. The church was granted Grade I listed building status in 1989.
