Description: 
Interior view of the central building, looking from the front door, Menston Asylum. The very wide corridor features a series of arches; the archway itself has decorative moulding and from dado level to the floor; further embossed decoration, giving a heavy patterned effect. The floor is beautiful mosaic tile. A good number of large plants are visible down the length of the corridor and two gentlemen in suits can be seen conversing at the far end.

References have been found to the Hospital under the following names: The Third West Riding County Lunatic Asylum, West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum and Menston Asylum; It was later named High Royds Hospital. The inscription at the front of the volume is the name 'Dr T O' Conor Donelan, Menston Asylum, Leeds Nov. 19. 1901' Dr O' Conor Donelan, worked at the asylum until 1905.
