Description:
Interior view showing the great hall at Parham Park in Pulborough, West Sussex. The hall floor is flagged and the walls are partially panelled. The ceiling is decorated with ornate plasterwork and there is a decorative screen with two archways giving access to an adjacent area. There are many paintings (unidentified) on display along with a vast collection of plate armour. There are example of full suits of armour and various helms, helmets and shields. The suit visible on the right of the print presents as a knight of the Crusades with a medieval helm and a white surcoat or tabard bearing the St George Cross, Built by the Palmer family in the late16th century, Parham moved into the hands of the Bishopp family in 1597 who were resident there until 1922. In 1922 it was bought by the Hon. Clive Pearson and in the hands of the Pearson family Parham Park has been restored to its former Elizabethan glory. There are small flaws in the print itself, likely sustained in the printing process rather than a flaw to the plate or negative.
