Description:
Interior view, looking towards the fireplace in the bedroom at 29 Lennox Gardens, London. The fireplace is in the centre of the room, with a decorative tiled surround and a panelled overmantel decorated with a scrollwork design. A shelf has been incorporated into the overmantel where small items of pottery are on display. Either side of the fireplace are inbuilt drawers and wardrobes. Along the top of the fireplace and inbuilt furniture is a moulded shelf with more pottery on display. The walls are papered as far as the dado rail with busy floral wallpaper, underneath the rail the wall is plain. There are a number of patterned rugs covering the tiled floor and the end of the wrought iron bedstead is just visible. Lennox Gardens in Knightsbridge were a set of 54 houses built between 1882 and 1886 on a former cricket field belonging to the Smith's Charity Estate. The properties there are still residential.
