The southern section of the UMIST campus; Shot from the roof of the extension to the main UMIST building looking south across the railway viaduct and showing the Renold building Staff house with the Jackson St Mill (Chemical engineering) directly behind it and then further south the maths and social sciences Tower and Ferranti building. The front section of the Barnes Wallace building is also visible as is to the west of the campus the papers sciences, Pariser and Faraday buildings. The land immediately to the west of Sackville Street and to the north of the Tower section of the Faraday building is in the process of being cleared in preparation for the construction of the Weston centre. In the distance beyond the Mancunian way various MMU and Manchester University buildings can be seen. On the reverse of the picture is written ‘Campus from roof of main building, June 1971, G/20’.
