Herbert Stanley Raper, 1882-1951; a photograph of Dr Raper demonstrating the heart lung preparation in the department of Physiology. The two students watching to his right are H Derlain (The closer of the two) and G Hudson. H. S. Raper was Professor of Physiology at the University of Manchester 1923-1946 and Professor of Chemical Physiology 1946-1951; he was also Dean of the Medical School. The date 'Nov 1944' has been written on the reverse of the picture.
