A section of the wave of student graffiti which hit the Manchester University campus at the end of 1969 and the beginning of 1970 and formed part of the student protests at the prospective appointment of Arthur Armitage to the role of University Vice Chancellor in succession to the retiring Mansfield Cooper and what they perceived as the un-democratic and opaque process by which the position was filled; Taken from a position in the centre of the lawned area at the western end of Lime Grove the shot is angled southwards towards the northern façade of the Arts building to the west of the main entrance. Daubed crudely in dark coloured paint along the low stone wall which stands in front of the building is the slogan 'No Dossiers Freedom Thurs Feb 26' the date referring to a general meeting of the Universities student body. Written on the reverse of the image is 'Arts Building Lime grove'.
