Description:
The interior of the council chamber in the main UMIST building; Taken from the south western corner of the room the shot is angled north east across the large oval table that dominates the centre of the chamber. The decorative reliefs on the walls and ceiling are by Manchester-trained sculptor Thomas Mewburn Crook (1869-1949). Placed around this are placed 18 high backed chairs with further similarly designed seats situated at intervals around the circumference of the room. On the reverse of the image has been written the following 'Council chamber'.
