Horae (Mary, Queen of Scots), fifteenth century Latin manuscript, Book of Hours bound in modern green velvet case; 16 lines to a page, in an Italian Gothic hand; Flemish scribe. Decorated with pictures and borders of fluid gold wit birds (peacocks notably), natural flowers and fruit. These borders are divided into panels by gold frames and these panels have grounds of blue or purple-red. Italian Gothic hand; Flemish scribe. The book of devotion has bee the property of Mary, Queen of Scots. On two pages she has written inscriptions in French; the first is on page 113: "Mon Dieu Cofondez mes ennemys". The other, on page 124: " Dieu viuant mon seul Juge olyez mes plainctes & mes gemissementz.".
