|
Introductory page containing preliminary matter to the psalter. Large zoomorphic initial 'P' filled with interlace and acanthus leaf decoration, and with interlace finials. The bowl of the 'P' is formed by a bird's body bent backwards; the acanthus decoration in the stem is more classical in style than the rest of the large initials in the book. The elements of the colour scheme are red, purple, black, blue, green and yellow. 'Psalterium. Inquirendum est In cuius lingua dicitur. Psalterium grecum est': selected lines of opening words in red capitals, or in black infilled with colour. Main text in black, Carolingian minuscule, in two columns.
