Description:
|
The story of King Leir (Lear) and his three daughters Gonerille (Goneril), Rigan (Regan) and Cordeil (Cordelia). King Leir tests the love of his daughters in order to determine their worthiness to marry well. All three daughters eventually marry well including Cordeil who marries the King of France and is made Queen of France. Thick black rubrication introduces the story of how Leir is driven out of his kingdom by Gonerille and Rigan. The name 'John Peele de Stoke' is written on the bottom of the left margin. The written space is c.197 x 118 mm in a good secretary hand which is the same throughout.
