Description:
|
Manuscript of the 'Psalter of St. Maximin'. The binding is brown leather with blind and gold tooling and dates from the 14th century. The text is written in double columns of 29-30 lines to a page. Written in the ninth century, in a fine clear, Carolingian minuscule, almost upright. Lines ruled with dry point. In the cover is the ticket of the Museum of Bollandianum Bruxellis. The manuscript has examples of the continental-Celtic style of decoration. The rosettes and interlacing of the Celtic school are combined with acanthus–leaf, and foliage. The elements of the colour scheme are red, purple, black, green and yellow.
