Description:

Vellum roll on mounted cloth. The subject is the Tree of Salvation, and the sequence runs from the bottom to top of the tree. (12) In the central stem of the tree is Booz holding a scroll. To the left of the central stem are two medallions: (a) Raphael binding Asmodeus, and (b) the three temptations of Christ. On the right of the central stem are two medallions: (c) Angels minister to Him: the devil below, and (d) an angel brings bread to Elijah sleeping. (13) In the central stem of the tree is Obeth holding a scroll. To the left of the central stem are two medallions: (a) Ezra reading the Law, and (b) Christ reading in the synagogue. On the right of the central stem are two medallions: (c) Christ calling to Peter and Andrew, and (d) Elijah caliing to Elisham who is ploughing. (14) In the central stem of the tree is Jesse holding a scroll. To the left of the central stem are two medallions: (a) the Feast of Ashasuerus, and (b) the marriage at Cana. On the right of the central stem are two medallions: (c) Jesus and the woman of Samaria at the well, and (d) Rebekah giving a drink to Eliezer. (15) In the central stem of the tree is Davis holding a scroll. To the left of the central stem are two medallions: (a) the giving of the Law, and (b) the Sermon on the Mount. On the right of the central stem are two medallions: (c) the leper healed, and (b) Naaman and Elisha.
