Ne was þer suche a wondryng as was þo But fynally the kyng askith the knyght The vertue of this courser and þe myght And prayde hym to tell his gou(er)n(au)nce This hors anon, gan for to trippe & daunce Whan þat þe knight, leyde hond vpon his reyne And seid sere ther is no more to seyne But when you lust, to riden eny where Ye mote trayle apyn. stant in his ere Which I schal tell you, betwen vs twoo Ye mote nempne hym: to what place alsoo Or to what contre, þat you list to ride And whan(n) ye come þ(er) as you list to abide Byd hym distende. and trille a noþ(er) pyn For þ(er)yn lieth þe effect of alle the gyn And he woll doun distend & doon youre will And in þat place he woll abiden still þough all þe wordle þe contr(a)re had swore He shall not þens be draw ne be bore Or yif you list, to bidde hym thens goon, Trille þis pyn, and he woll vanyssh anoon Out of þe sight, of eu(er)y maner wight And come agayn be it day or nyght Whan þat you list to clepen hym agayn In suche agise as I schal to you sayn Bitwene you and me: and þat ful sone Bidde whan you list, þ(er)is no more to done Enfourmed when þe kyng was of þe knyght And hath conceyued in his witte a right The man(er) and þe fourme of all þis thyng Full glad and blithe, þis noble lusty kyng Repaireth to his rebell as biforn The bridell is into þe coure born And kepte among his jewels leef and dere þe hors vanysshed I noot in which man(er)e Out of here sight, ye gete no more of me But thus I lete in luste and iolite þis Cambustan, his lordes festyng Till well nygh þe day be gan to spryng Exp(licit) p(ri)ma pars The norisshe of digestion the slepe Gan on hem wynke, & bade hem take kepe Þat mochel drynke, and labo(ur) wol hane reste And w(ith) a galpyng mouth, hem all he kest And seid þat it was tyme to lie a doun For blood was in his domynacioun Cherisseth blood, nature Frend q(uo)d he þei thankyd hym galpyng bi .ij. bi .iij.
