Description:
Fall of Princes. Book seven: Otho usurped the Roman empire by murder and deceit. He fought Vitellius a number of times who also lay claim to Rome, Otho defeated Vitellus three times, but lost the fourth battle against him and killed himself in despair. Vitellius then came to power. Vitellius had been a vicious and dishonest youth, who gambled and fell into poverty. Small illuminated and coloured initials introduce the verses. The ink annotation in the margin '(b)ix' corresponds to pages in the Pyson printed edition of Fall of Princes. The written space is 285 x 200 mm in two columns and the script is rather an ugly and unstable anglicana formata.
