Description:
|
Siege of Troy. Book four: Lydgate laments and claims no Hebrew prophet could properly mourn the fate of Troy. Lydgate ends book four with the Greeks preparing to make their way home. Book five begins at the bottom of the folio with an illuminated initial 'W'. Illustrated detail: Daniel, Ezekiel and Sedechie. There is a floriated, illuminated full border and the illustration has been identified as being painted by an artist stylistically close to William Abell, an important mid-fifteenth English illuminator. The written space is 305 x 200 mm, 2 columns and 44 lines and the script is anglicana formata by two hands.
