concell of all the grete lordes of hys reume clept & gaderyd to gider in hys p(ar)lement att Westm(inster) be for Estren ordeyned hym for to passe ou(er)e see aȝeen for to dissese and destourble the rebelles of Fraunce and whan hys nauee was come to gider and made redy he went wiht an houge oost the xij day of Juyll and saylled in to Normandy and arryued atte hogges. //And whan he had restyd hym there vj dayes for by cause of trauay lyng of the see and for to haue out all hys men wyht all her necessaries out of her shippes he went toward Cadomu(~) bren nyg wastyng and dystroyng all þe tounes as he went by the way and the xxvj day of Juyll atte the brigge of Cadony ma(~)ly & orpudly y strengthed and defendid with Normanes he had ther a strong batayll and long duryng thurght wich a grete multitude of peple were slayne. // And ther were take pryson(er)s the Erle of Ewe the lord of Tankervyle and .a. C other kyngthes & men of harmes and vjc. foot men y nombred / and the toun & subbarbes vnto the bare walles of althyng that þei myght be bore and caryed out was robbed & dispoilled afterward the kyng passed forth by the cuntre aboute the brede of xx. myle he wasted al man(er) thyng that he fonde whan Philip of Valeys p(er)ceyued al thys. al thogh he were fast by with a strong oost he wold nott come nere but breke all the bryg // ges be ȝond the water of seyne fro Rone vnto parys and hym self fled vnto the same Citee of Parys with all the haast that he myght.// Forsoth the noble kyng Edeward whan he come to Parys brygge and fond hyt broken w(t) jn ij dayes he lete make it aȝeen And in the morow after þe assu(~)pciou(~) of oure lady kyng Edeward passed ou(er)e þe water of Sene goyng toward Crescy and dystroyed by the way tounes wyth the peple dwel / lyng ther jn And in the feest of seynt Bartholomew he passed ou(er)e the wat(er) of Sum(~)e vnhurt with al hys oost ther as ne u(er)e by for hand was eny man(er)e wey ne passage wher too M(l). were slayne of hem that letted her passag ou(er)e.
