Scotlande as is saide bifore and his sone shulde be king of Scotlande þ(t) was of age .v. ȝere // and so þorugh hire cur- sede counceile þis Dauid spousede at Berwik Dame Jone at þe tour þat was king Edwardus suster as þe geste telleþ vppon Marie Magdalayn day þe ȝere of grace a þousand .CCC. .xxviij. to grete harme and enpeiringe to alle þe kinges blood wherof þat gentil lady come: allas þe time for wonder moche was þat faire damisele disp(ar)gede: sith þat she was maried. aȝens al þe co(~)mune assent of þe lordes of Engelonde // And fro þe time þat Bruit had conquered. Albion and nempned þe lande aftir his owen name Britaigne: þat now is called En- gelonde after þe name of Engist: and so was þe reaume of Scotlande holden of þe reaume of Engelond and of þ(e) croune by feaute and by homage. But Bruit conquerede þ(t) lande and ȝaf it to Albanac his secunde sone: and he callede þ(e) lande Albanye aft(er) his name: so þ(t) þe heires þat comen aft(er) him helden of Bruit and of his heirs þe kinges of Britaigne by feaute and homage: and fro þat time vnto þis king Ed- warde þe reaume of Scotland was holden of þe reaume of Engelonde by feauteȝ & s(ir)uic(es) aboue saide as þ(e) Cronicles of Engelonde and of Scotlonde bereth witnesse more plenerely and accursed be þe time þat þis p(ar)lement was ordeigned at Norh(a)mpton(~): for þ(er)e þorugh fals counceil þe king was þ(er)e falsly disheritede and ȝit he was w(t)inne age // And ȝit whanne king Edwarde was pulte adou(~) of his realte of Engelonde ȝit men pulte him nought out of þe feautes and s(er)uiceȝ of þe reaume of Scotlande and of þe f(ra)unchiseȝ disheritede for eu(er)emore // And noþeles þe grete lordes of En- gelonde were aȝens to conferme þe pees and þ(e) trewes aboue saide saue onely þe Quene Isabelle þat was þe kinges mooder Edwarde and þe Bisshop of Ely. and þe lord Mor tymer // But resoun and lawe wolde nought þ(t) a final pees shulde be made bituene ham wiþoute þ(e) co(~)mune as- sent of Engelonde Of þ(e) debate þat was bituene þe
