Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' A ' introduce the tale of how King Edward III marries Philippa, the Earl of Henaud's daughter, at York, and how twelve Earls and Barons are sworn to advise Edward in matters of ruling the country, due to his young age. How Roger Mortimer and Isabelle, the King's mother, crave power. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

And after c(ri)stus masse þo next sewynge S(ir) John of He- naude broughte with him Philip. his broþeres dough ter þat was erl of Henuade his nece in to Engelonde and king Edward spousede hire at ȝork wiþ muchel hono(ur) and S(ir) John of Hothum bisshop of/ Ely and S(ir) William of Metou(~) erchebisshop of york songe masse þe soneday in þe eue of Conu(er)sioun of sent Paule in þe ȝere of g(ra)ce M(l).
