The words ' Edward 3 ' are written in the top margin. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' A ' introduce the tale of how King Edward III marries Philippa, the Earl of Henaud's daughter, at York, and how twelve Earls and Barons are sworn to advise Edward in matters of ruling the country, due to his young age. How Roger Mortimer and Isabelle, the King's mother, crave power. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.
