Description: 
The words ' Edward 3 ' are written in the top margin. The tale of how, at the orders of Sir Roger Mortimer, Edward II is crushed in his sleep by a table, and a pipe inserted into his bowels, which are burnt with a copper rod, so that the manner of his death might not be perceived. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

þat ȝif my lady ȝoure wyf come ony þing neigh ȝow þat ȝe wolde hire st(ra)ngle and quelle and also þat ȝe wolde don to my lorde ȝoure sone // þo ansuerde he wiþ simple chere & saide allas allas am y nouȝt in p(ri)soun and al at ȝoure owe ne wille now god it wot y þoughte it neu(er)e and now y wilne þ(t) y were dede so wolde god þ(t) y were for þanne we re al my sorwe passede // Hit was nouȝt longe after þ(t) þe king þorugh counceil of þe Mortim(er) g(ra)untede þe warde and þe keping of S(ire) Edward his fader to S(ire) Thom(a)s Toiourneye and to þe forsaide S(ire) John. Mautrauers þorugh þe kinges l(et)re and pulte out holliche þe forsaide S(ire) Morice of þe warde of þe king and þey nome and lad þe king vnto þ(e) Castel of Corf þe which castel þe king hated as ony deth: and þey kepte him þ(er)e safliche til it come vnto sent Matheus day in septembr(e) in þe ȝere of g(ra)ce .M(l).
