Description: 
There are some ink graffiti pen-trials in right margin, and two words in the top margin which look like a name, possibly ' Roger B*** '. The tale of how after the Scots depart, there is much sorrow. Two moons appear in the sky and two Popes are elected. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' A ' introduce the tale of how the deposed King Edward of Caernarvon asks again from his prison why he cannot see his wife and son. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

vnto york ful sorweful and his host departede and euery man wente in to his owene cuntre w(t) ful heuy and mor- nynge semblaunt. and þe henaudes nomen hire leue and wente in to hire owene cuntree and þe king for hir(e) t(ra)uaile hugely ham rewardede and for enchesoun(~) of þ(t) viage þ(e) king had despendede muche of his t(re)sour and wastede / // And in þat time were seyne too moones in þe firma- ment þat on was clere and þ(t) oþ(er) was derk as me(~) mighte þo see þorugh out al þe worlde and a gret debate was þat same time aȝen pope. Joh(a)n þe xxii. after þat sent pet(er) was pope and þe Emp(er)o(ur) of Almaigne þat made him Em- p(er)our aȝens þe popes wille þat þo helde his se at Avyou(~) Wherfore þe Emp(er)o(ur) made his c(ri)e at Rome and ordeignede anoþ(er) pope þ(t) highte Nicholas þat was a frere menour and þat was aȝens þe right of holy chirche wherfore he was cursed and þe poer of þat oþ(er) pope was layde and for enchesoun þat suche m(er)uailes were seyne men saide þ(t) þe worlde was neigh at an ende Of þe deth of king Edward of Carnariuan su(~) time king of Englonde. And now go we aȝen vnto S(ir) Edwarde of Carna riuan þat was king sum time of Engelonde and was pult a doun of his dignite allas for his tribulacioun and sorwe him bifelle þorugh fals counceil þat he leue de and trusted vppon ham to muche þat afterward were destroiede þorugh hire falsnesse as god wolde // And þis Edwarde of Carnariuan was in þe Castel of Berkele under þe kepyng of S(ire) Morice of Berkelee and of S(ir) Joh(a)n of Mautrauers: and to ham he made his complaint of his sorwe & his dissese and often times he axede of his wardeins what he had trespassed aȝens dame .Is(abel). his wif and S(ire) Edward his sone þ(t) was newe made king þat þey wolde nouȝt visite him // þo ansuerde on of his wardeins my worthy lorde displese ȝow nought þat J shal telle ȝow: þe enchesou(~) is. for it is don ham to vnd(er)stonde
