The words ' Edward 3 ' are written in the top margin. Hair follicles are very visible in the parchment at the top of the folio. The tale of Sir Roger Mortimer's treachery, and how the Scots steal away under cover of night, and how the same night, James Douglas steals into the English camp and murders many of the English. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

in preiudice and in harmynge of him and his fee and ȝif þey dede þey shulde stande vnto hire owene p(er)ile: and þe forsaide erl. Marchal was al arrayede w(t) his bataile at þe redose of þe erl of Lancastr(e) for to haue foughte with him and w(t) his folc ȝif he had meuede for to fighte w(t) þe Scottis and in þis manere he was desceyuede and wist no þing of þis t(re)soun and þus was þe king p(ri)ncipally desceyuede // And whanne it was nyght: þe Mortimer þat hadde þe wacche for to kepe of þe host þ(t) nyght de- stourblede þe wache þat no þing moste be done and in þe mene while þe scottes stele by nyghte toward hir owene cuntr(e) as faste as þey myghte. and so was þ(e) king falsly bitraied. þat wende þ(t) alle þ(e) t(ra)ytours of his lande had ben broughte vnto an ende as it was saide bifore Now here ȝe lordes how tretoursly king Edward was desceyuede and how m(er)uailously and boldly þe scottes de- de of werre: for þe same nyght James Douglas with CC. me(~) of Armeȝ riden þorugh out þe host of king Ed- warde þe same nyght þat þe scottes were scapede to- warde hir owene cuntr(e). as is aboue saide til þat þey come(~) to þe kinges pauyluo(~) and quelde þ(er)e manye men in hire beddes and c(ri)eden somme. Naward Nawarde and anoþ(er) time. a Douglas. a douglas. wherfor þ(e) king þ(t) was in his Pauyloun(~) and muche oþ(er) folc were won- der sore affraiede. but blessed be almyghty god þ(e) king was nouȝt taken: and in gret p(er)ile was þo þ(e) reaume of Engelonde // And þat nyȝt þe moone shone ful cler and brighte. and for alle þe king(es) men: þe scottis scape- de harmeles. and in þe morwe whanne þe king wiste þ(t) þe scottis wer(e) ascapede in to hire cuntree: he was won- der sory and ful hertely wepte w(t) his ȝonge eyen and ȝit wiste he nought who had done him þat tresoun(~) but þe fals trayto(ur) was wel knowe a good while aft(er) as þe storye telleth // þe king Edward come þo aȝen
