Description:
The words 'Edward 3' are written in the top margin. The tale of a conspiracy to set the deposed King Edward free from prison. The attempt is foiled, and Henry, Earl of Lancaster transfers the deposed King from Kenilworth to Berkeley castle. King Edward III ordains a host to go to fight the Scots. The words the Scots use to taunt the English are written in red rubrication 'Longe berde herteles peynted hood witles gay cote g(ra)celes makes Engelond thriftles'. A catchword ' to helpe ' is wrttien in the bottom margin. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.
