after þe time þat he was take nolde ete no man(er) mete no þ(er) drin- ke no manere drink for he wiste to haue no mercy. but onliche he wiste he shulde ben ded: and þe Quene and hire counceile þo had ordeyned þat he shulde haue be do to deþ(e) at Londou(~) but he was so feble for his muchel fastinge þ(t) he was ded almost for fastyng(e) and þ(er)fore it was ordeigned þ(t) he shulde haue his iugemement at Hereford and at a place of þe toun his hood was take fro his hede and also fram Robert of Baldoc(us) þat was a piled clerc also þ(t) was fals and þe kinge(s) Chaunceler and men sette vppon hire hedes Chapeletteȝ of sharpe net- teles: and .ij. squyers blewe in hire eres w(t) .ij. g(re)te bugle hornes oppon þo .ij. p(ri)soners þat men myghte here þ(er)e blowyng(e) out with hornes mo þan a þousand: ad one Symunde of Re- dynge þe kinges marchal bifore ham bare hire armes vppon a spere reu(er)sede in tokene þ(t) þey shulde ben vndone for eu(er)more. // And oppon þ(e) morne was S(ir) Hugh þe Spenser þe sone demp- ned to þe deth and was drawe and honged biheueded and his boweles taken out of his body and brente: and aft(er) he was quartered. and his quarters sente to .iiij. tounes of Engelond and his hede sente to Londou(~) brugg(e) // And þis Symund for en- chesoun þ(t) he despisede þ(e) Quene .Is(abel). he was drawe and hon gede i(~) a stage made amyd þ(e) fosaid S(ir) Hughes galwes and þe same day alitel fro þennes was S(ir) Joh(a)n of Arundell biheueded for he was on of S(ir) Hughe þe Spens(er)s counceilers and anon aft(er) was S(ir) Hughe þe Spenser drawe and honged and biheuede at Bristowe and aft(er) honged aȝen w(t) tweye stronge ropes: and þ(e) .iiij(e). day after he was hewed alto peces and houndes eten him and for þat enchesoun þat þe king had ȝeuen þe erl of Wync(hester) his hed hit was lad þider and pult vppon a sper(e). and þe fals Baldok was sent to Londou(~) and þ(er)e he deide in P(ri)sou(~) amonge þefes. for men dede him no more reu(er)ence þan me wolde done vnto an hounde and so deiden þe traitours of Engelonde blessed be almyghty god and it was no wonder ffor þorugh here counceile þe good erl Thom(a)s of lancastr(e).
