.Is(abel). and to S(ir) Edward his sone wherfore he sente maister Walt(er) of Stapletou(~). his t(re)sorer for to ben wardein and kep(er)e of þe Citee of Londoun(~) wiþ þe mair(e) and so he come to þe Gyl- dehall of Londou(~). and axede þe kayes of þe ȝates of þe Citee þorugh v(er)tue and strengthe of his co(~)missiou(~) and wolde haue had þe kepinge of þe Citee // And þe co(~)mun(er)s ansuerde and saide þat þey wolde kepe þe citee to þe honour of king Edward and of .Is(abel). þe Quene and of þe Duk þe kinges sone w(t)oute(~) ony mo // þe Bisshop was þo sore annoyed and suore his oth þ(t) þey all shulde abeye: anon as þe king were come out of Walys: and þe co(~)muners alle anon of þ(e) citee nomen þe bis shop. and lad him amidde Chepe and þ(er)e þey smyten of his hed and sette his hede in his right hande and after þey biheuedede. ij of his squyers þat helde with þe Bisshop and on of ham me callede Will(ia)m of Walle þat was þ(e) bis shopes nevev and þat other me callede Joh(a)n of Padyngtou(~) and also þey nome a burgeis of Londou(~) þat me callede Joh(a)n Marchal þat was S(ir) Hughe þe Spensers aspie þe fader and smyten of his heued also // And in þe same time þ(t) same Bisshop had in Londou(~) a fair Tour in makyng in his cloos vppon þe ryuer of þe Thamyse þ(t) was w(t)oute temple barr and him faillede stoon for to make þ(er)of an ende wher fore he co(~)maundede his men for to gon to þe chirche of þe frer Carmes and þ(er)e þ(e)y nomen ston to make þ(er) with þe tour. and moche sand and morter and olde robons þ(er)e was left// And for þe despite þ(t) þ(e) Bisshop had don vnto holy chirche & he & his too squyers were buriede in þ(t) sande as though þey had ben houndes and þ(er)e þey leyen .xj. wokes til þat þe Quene.
