Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' W ' introduce the tale of how King Edward hears of his queen's plans to invade, and how he makes many and careful preparations to defend England, including offering rewards for the heads of the traitors. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

þ(t) was Erl of kent that was S(ir) Edwardus broþ(er) of Engelond How king Edward lete kepe þ(e) costes by þe see and lete t(ri)e alle þ(e) p(ri)se me(~) of armeȝ and foot me(~) also þorugh out Englonde Ca(o) CC(mo). vj(to). Whanne king Edward herde telle þat þe Quene. Isabel and Edward hir sone wolde come in to Engelond w(t) manye alienes and w(t) ham þat were outlawede out of En- gelond for hire rebelnesse he was sore adrad to ben pulte a doun and lese his kingdome wherfore he ordeignede for to kepe his castell in Wales as wel as in Engelonde with vitaill and hire app(ar)aile and lete kepe his ryuers and also þe see coostes wher of þe vif porteȝ token to kepe ham. and also þe see // And also he com(~)aundede ferthermore by his l(et)res ordeynede þat eu(er)y hundred and wapentache of Engelonde too tryours as wel of men of armes as of men of foote and þat þey shulde ben pulte in tuentysome and in hundred- some: and co(~)maunded þ(t) alle þo men were aredy whan eny outhese and c(ri)e were made for to pursue and take þe Alienes þat comen in to Engelonde forto bynyme hym þ(e) lande and for to pulte him out of his kingdome // And mer(e) ou(er) he lete crie þorugh his patent in eu(er)y feire and in eu(er)y marcate of Engelonde þ(t) þe Quene.
