The words 'Edward 2' are written in the top margin. The tale of how the Spencers conspire to lure Queen Isabelle and Sir Edward out of France and to kill them. How the envoy they sent over to France with 5 barrels of silver is taken in the high sea, and the silver delivered to Queen Isabelle, who then prepares an army to invade England. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

gon in to ff(ra)unce for to treten of accorde biuene þ(e) king of Engelond and hire bro þ(er) þe king of ff(ra)unce for þat was ȝour(e) counceile for at þat time for sothe ȝoure wit faylede for j drede me sore lest þorugh hire and hir sone we shulleth be shent but yif we take þe bettr(e) counceil // Now faire sires vnd(er)stondiþ how m(er)vaillo(us) felonye and falshede þe Spens(er)s ymaginede and caste for p(ri)vely þey lete felle vif barell ferers w(t) siluer. þe somme amountede. v. M(l). Li. and þey sente þo barell ouer see p(ri)ueleche by an aliene þat me callede Arnold of Spaigne þat was a brocour of Londou(~) þat he shulde gon to þe dussepiers of ff(ra)unce þat þey shulde p(ro)curen and speke to þe king of ff(ra)unce. þ(t) Quene Is(abel). and hire sone Edward were dryue and exi- lede out of ff(ra)unce and among(es) alle oþ(er)e þinges þat þey were brought to þe deþ as p(ri)uely as þey myghte. but al- myghty god wolde nouȝt so // ffor whanne þis Arnolde was in þe hye see he was take w(t) Selanders þ(t) mette him in þe see and token him and lad him to hire lord erl of Henaude and muche ioye was made for þ(t) taking and at þe laste þis Arnold p(ri)uyly stale away fro þennes and come to Londou(~) // And of þis takinge and of oþ(er)e þing(es) þe Erl of Henaude sayde to þe Quene. Dame make ȝow mery and beth of goode chiere for ȝe beth more richere þan ȝe wende haue ben and take ȝe þese. v. barell fulle of siluer þ(t) were sente to þe dussepieres of ff(ra)unce for to quelle ȝow and ȝoure sone Edward. and þenketh hasti- ly for to wende in to Engelonde and take ȝe w(t) ȝow S(ire) Joh(a)n of Henaude my broþer and. v. C men of armes for menye of ham of ff(ra)unce in wham ȝe haue had gret trist had gret deutee ȝow for to scorne: and almighty god g(ra)unte ȝow g(ra)ce ȝoure enemys to ou(er)come // þe Quene.
