The words 'Edward 2' are written in the top margin. There is a catchword in the bottom margin. The tale of how Queen Isabelle goes to France to try to negotiate peace. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' T ' introduce the tale of how Edward II's son, Sir Edward, asks to go to France to see his mother, and is made Duke of Gyene by the King of France. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' W ' introduce the tale of how King Edward orders his queen and son to return to England, but they fear his wrath and refuse. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

yngh(a)m shulde wende in to Gascoigne and haue w(t) him .vij. þousand men and mo of armes to bene seneschal and war deyn of Gascoigne and so it was ordeigned þ(t) quene Isabell wente þo ouer see and come in to ff(ra)unce and w(t) hire wente S(ir) Aymer of Valence erl of Penbrok þat was þ(er)e mordred so deynly in a p(ri)ue sege but þ(t) was þorugh godes veniaunce for he was on of þe Justiceȝ þat consentede to sent Thom(a)s deth of Lancastr(e): and wolde neu(er)e afterward repente him of þat wicked dede // And at þ(t) tyme S(ir) Olyuer of Yngh(a)m wente ou(er) in to Gascoigne and dede muche harme to þe king of ff(ra)unce and þo gette aȝen þat king Edward hadde lost and muche more þ(er)to How king Edwarde sent S(ire) Edward his sone þe eldest in to ff(ra)unce Cap(o). CC(mo). tercio The Quene Isabell nad but a quarter of o ȝer in ff(ra)unce duellede þ(t) S(ire) Edward his eldest sone ne axede leue for to wende in to ff(ra)unce for to speke w(t) his mooder Isabell þe Quene. and þe king his fader g(ra)untede him with good wille and saide to him go my faire sone in godes blessinge and myne and þenke for to come aȝen as hastily as þow might and he com ou(er) þe see and come in to ff(ra)unce. and þe king of ff(ra)unce his vncle vndirfeng him with muchel hono(ur) and saide vnto him faire sone ȝe bene welcome and. for cause þat ȝoure fader come nought for to done his homage for þe Duchye of Ghyene as his aunces- tres were wonede for to done y ȝeue ȝow þat lordshippe to holde it of me in heritage as alle ȝour(e) auncestr(e)s deden bifore ȝow: wherfore he was called Duk of Gyene How king Edward exilede his quene Isabelle & Edward his [...] eldest sone C(o).
