man in Coundoin in Gascoigne and such a maladie he hadde: þat al his right side rotede and felle a way fram him and me(~) mighte se his lyu(er)e and also his herte and so he stank þat vnneþe a man myghte come negh him wherfore his frendes were for him wonder sory // But att þe last as god wolde þey p(ra)yede to sent Thom(a)s of. La(~)castr(e). þat he wolde praye to al mighty god for þat prison(~) and bihighte to gon to Poinfret. for to don hire pilg(ri)mage and þe good man sone aft(er) slepe ful roste and dremede þat þe mart(re) sent Thom(a)s com to him and anoyn- tede ou(er) al his sike body: and þ(er)with þe good man awok and was al hool and his flessh was restored aȝen that bifore was rotede and falle away. for which miracle þe good man and his frendes louede god and sen Thom(a)s eu(er)more after/ // And þis good man com in to Engelonde and nome w(t) him four felawes and come to Pountfret vnto þ(t) holy martir and dede hire pilg(ri)mage but þe good man þat was sike come þider al naked saf his breche and whanne þey had done þey turnede home aȝen in to hire cuntr(e) and tolde of þ(e) miracle where so þat þey come // And also .ij. men haue ben helede þere of þe morimale þorugh helpe of þat holy mart(re) þough þat euel be holde incurable // whanne þe Spens(er)s herde þat god dede suche miracles for his holy mart(re) and þey wolde bileue it in no maner wise but saide openliche þat it was gret heresye such v(er)tue of him to bileue // And whanne S(ire) Hughe þe Spens(er) þe sone saugh al þis doynge anon he sente a messang(er) fram Pountfret. þat he duellede þo to kyng Ed- ward of Grauene. at Skiptou(~) for cause þ(t) þe king shulde vndo þe pilg(ri)mage // And as þe rebaude þat was messang(er) wente toward þe king for to done his message: he com by þ(e) hulle þ(t) þe good ma(~) was done vnto his deth and in þe same place he made his ordure. and whanne he had ydone he wente to ward þe king and astrong flixe him come vppon er he come to york and shedde alle his bowell at his foundeme(~)t // And whanne S(ir) Hughe þe Spens(er) herde þis tyding som del he
