There is a long note in Latin in the right margin beginning 'Tho. Walsingh..'. The words 'Edward 2' are written in the top margin. The tale of the trechery of Sir Andrew Herkela, who was put to death for treason. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

he þe king pult oppon þe þat for als muche as ȝe haue ben orpede in ȝoure dedes he dede vnto ȝow muchel hono(ur) and made ȝow Erl of Cardoill: and þow as a traito(ur) vnto þy lord þ(e) king and laddest his peple of þis cuntr(e) þ(t) shul- de haue holpe him at þe bataile of Beighlande: and þow laddest ham away by þe cuntr(e) of Copelande. and þorugh þ(e) Erldome of lancastr(e). wherfore oure lord þ(e) king was scom fited þ(er)e of þe scottys. þorugh þi tresou(~) and falsnesse and yif þow haddest come bitimes he had had þe mastrie & al þat tresou(~) þ(u) dedest for þ(e) grete soume of gold and silu(er) þat þ(u) vnderfenge of Jameȝ Douglas a Scott. þe kinges enemye // And our(e) lord þe king(es) wille is þ(t) ȝe þ(e) ordre of knyȝthode by þe whiche þow vnderfenge al þin honour and worshipp vppon þi body ben al brought in to nouȝt and þi state vndone þ(t) oþ(er)e knyȝtes of lowere degre mowe after þe be war(e). þe which lord hath þe au(au)nced hugely in diu(er)se cuntrees of Engelond. and þ(t) all mowe take ensam- ple by þ(e) hir lord aftirward trewely for to s(er)ue // þo com- maundede he a knaue anon to hewe of his spores with his heeles and aft(er) he lete breke þe suerde ouer his he- de þe which þe king ȝaf to kepe and defende his lande þ(er) with whanne he made him Erl of Cardoille// & after he lete him vncloþ(e) of his furrede tabbarde and of his hood and of his furrede Cotes and of his gerdell. & whanne þis was don. S(ire) Antoyne saide vnto him. An drew q(uod) he now artow no knyȝt. but a knaue: and for þy tresoun(~) þe king wil þat þ(u) ben hanged and drawe and þin hed smyten of and þy bowailes taken out of þy body and þy bowell brent bifore þ(e) and þy body q(ua)rt(er)ed and þin hed smyten of and sent vnto londou(~) and þ(er)e it shal stande oppon lo(~)dou(~) brugg(e). and þi four(e) q(ua)rters shullen ben sende to .iiij. tounes of Engelond þat alle oþ(er)re mighte ben ware and chastisede by þe. and as.
