The words ' Edward 2 ' are written in the top margin. The tale of the beheading of Thomas of Lancaster, and the hanging of many other rebels throughout England. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

to þe place þat he ended his lif in to whom he shrof him al his lif // And þe gentil erl helde frere wonder faste by þ(e) cloþes and saide faire fader abide with vs, til þ(t) y be ded for my flessh quaketh for drede of deþ. and soth for to seye þe gentil erl sette him vppon his knees and turnede him toward þe East. but a ribaude þat me callede Higon of Moston. sette hand vppon þe gentil Erl and saide in des- pite of him and saide sire traito(ur) turne þ(e) toward þ(e) Scottes þy foul deth to vnderfonge and turnede þe erl toward þe North // The noble erl Thom(a)s. ansuerede þo w(t) a mylde voys and saide. now faire lordes y shal don al ȝour(e) wille and with þat word þe frere wente fro him ful sore wepynge and anon a rybaude wente to him and smot of his hede. þe xj(e). kal(e)n(d) of Auerill in þe ȝere of g(ra)ce .M(l). iij(C) xxj. allas þ(t) eu(er)e such a gentil blood shulde ben don to þe deth w(t)oute cause & resoun. // and t(ra)itoursly was þ(e) kinge co(~)ceiled whan he þoruȝ fals counceil of þ(e) false Spens(er)s suffred S(ire) Thom(a)s hi(s) vncles sone ben pult to such a deth and so ben heueded aȝens alle man(er) resoun: and g(re)t piete it was also þat such a noble king shulde ben des- ceyued and mys gouerned þorugh counceil of þe false Spens(er)s þ(e) whiche he mayntenede þorugh loselrye aȝens his honour and ek p(ro)fite: for aftirwarde þ(er)e fel gret ven- iaunce in Engelonde. for enchesoun of þe forsayde Thom(a)s deth // Whanne þe gentil Erl of þis lif was passed: þ(e) p(ri)our and þe monk(es) of Pountfrett getten S(ir) Thom(a)s body of þe king and þey beryede it bifore þe hye auter in þe right syde and þ(t) same day þat þe gentil lord was dede þ(er) were honged and drawe for þe same querell at Pountfrett S(ir) William Tuchet S(ir) Will(ia)m fitz Will(ia)m S(ir) Wareyn. of ysilee.
