The tale of the siege of Tickhill castle, and the tale of the traitor Robert Holland (Holande). The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

. // And whanne þe king herde þ(t) his Castel was biseged: he swore by god and by his names þat þe sege shulde ben reme- uede and assemblede an huge poer of peple and wente þider ward for to rescue þe Castel. and his poer encressede fram day to day // Whanne þe Erl of Lancastr(e) and þ(e) erl of Herford & þe barouns and hire compaignye herde of þis þing þey assem- blede al here poer and wente ham to Burton op Trent and kepte þe Brugg(e) þ(t) þe king shulde nouȝt passe ou(er) // But it bifel so þat on þe tenþ(e) day of March in þe ȝere of grace .M(l). iij(C). and .xxj. þe king and þe Spensers S(ir) Aymer Valaunce erl of Penbrok. and Joh(a)n erl of Arundell an hire poer went ouer þe wat(er) and descomfitede þ(e) Erl Thom(a)s and his com panye. and þey fledde to þe Castel. of Tuttebery: and fro þennes þey wente to Pountfret. And in þ(t) viage deide S(ire) Rog(er) Dammory in þe Abbay of Tuttebery // And in þ(e) same time þe erl Thom(a)s had a traytour w(t) him þ(t) me callede Ro bert of Holande a knyght. þat þe Erl had brought vp of nouȝt and had norisshed him of his botelrye: and had ȝeue him .ij. þousand marc of lande by ȝere. and so muche þ(e) erl louede him: þat he myghte done in þe Erls court al þing þat him likede boþe among hye and lowe and so queynte leche þe þef bar him aȝens his lord þat he truste more vp- on him þan oppon ony man alyue // And þe Erl had ordey ned by his lettre for to wende in to þe Erldome of Lancastr(e) for to make arise for to helpe him in þat viage þat is to seyn .v.C. men of Armes. but þe false traito(ur) come nouȝt þere no maner men for to warne ne to make arise for to helpe his lord. // And whenne þ(e) traitour herde telle þat his lord was des comfitede att Burton as a fals þeef traito(ur) he stal away and robbede in Raueneslande his lordes men þat come fro þe scomfiture and nome of ham hors and harneys and al þat þey had an quelde of ham al þ(t) he mighte take and þo come and ȝelde him vnto þe king // Whanne þ(e) good erl Thom(a)s wiste þat he was so bitrayede he was sore abasshed
