The words ' Edward 2 ' are written in the top margin. The tale of how cardinals arrive from Rome and are robbed on Wyngelesdon moor, and how there was such famine that poor people stole horses, cats and children to eat. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' A ' introduce the tale of how the Scots come into Northumberland to murder and pillage. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' A ' introduce the tale of how Scotland was interdicted. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

time þer come .ij. cardinales in to Engelond as þe pope had ham sent for to make pees bituene Scotland and Engelonde and as þey wente towarde Durh(a)m. for to haue sacred maist(er) Lowys bisshop of Durh(a)m. and as þey wente þey were taken and robbede vppon þe more of Wyngelesdou(~): of whiche robberye S(ir) Gilb(er)t of Middeltou(~). was atteint and take and honged and drawe at Londou(~) and his heued smyten of and his boweles taken out of his body and brende and his body quartered & his hed smyten of and set vppon a sper and set vppon Newegate: and þe .iiij. quarters sente to .iiij. Citees of Enge- lond // And þat same time bifelle manye mischefes in Enge- londe for þe poure peple deide in Engelonde for hung(er) and so muche and so faste folc deiden þat vnneþ(e) men myghte ham burye for a quart(er) of whete was worth .xls. and .ij. ȝer & an half a quarter of whete worth .ij. m(a)rc. and oftyn times þe poure peple stale children and ete ham and ete also alle þe houndes þat þey mighte take and eke hors & cattes: and after þ(er)e fel a gret pestilence amonges bestes in diu(er)se cun- tres of Engelond durynge king Edwardus lyf .
