mighte // And þat þey shulde nought soffre Piers of Gaues- tone come aȝen in to Engelonde for to make his sone vse ry- aute and þey g(ra)untede him w(t) good wille. and þe king nome his sac(ra)mentȝ of holy chirche as a good c(ri)stene ma(~) shulde and deide in v(er)ray repentaunce // And whanne he had ben king .lv. ȝer. he deide and was buried at Westm(inster). with muche so lempnyte vppon whos soule god haue mercy Of Merly- nes p(ro)phecies þat were declarede of king Edwarde þat was king Henries sone Cap(o) Centesimo Octogesimo sexto. And of þis king Edward p(ro)pheciede Merlyn. and callede him a Dragoun þe .ij(e). king of þe .vj. laste king(es) þat shulde be for to regne in Engelonde and saide þ(t) he shulde be mellede wiþ mercy and also w(t) sternesse þat shulde kepe Engelonde fro colde and fro hete and þat he shulde opene his mouth toward Walys and þ(t) he shulde sette his o foot in Wyke and þ(t) he shulde closen w(t) wallis þ(t) shulde done muche harme to his seede and he saide soth. for þ(e) goode king Edward was medeled w(t) m(er)cy and w(t) fersnesse w(t) m(er)cy aȝens his enemys of Walis and aft(er) of Scotlonde w(t) fersnes se whanne he pulte ham to þe deth for hire falsnesse and traitrie as þey had deseruede it and wel kepte he Engelond fram colde and hete sith he kept it fram alle manere enemys þat ronne vppon him to don him ony wronge. And wel ope- nede he his mouth toward Walys and made it quake þorugh þe hidour of his mouth whanne he conquerede it þorugh dent of swerde. for þe P(ri)nce Lewelyn and Dauid his bro þ(er) Rys & Morgan. were pulte vnto þe deth for hire falsnesse and hire folye / And he sette his o foot in to .Wik. and conquerede Ber Wyk at þe which co(~)quest were slayne .xxv. þousand and .vij(C). outake ham þat were brende in þe Reede halle and þe walles þ(t) he let make shal be noyous vnto his seed as me(~) shulle hure after in þe lif of S(ire) Edward of Carnarifan his sone // And ȝit saide M(er)lyn þat he shulde make a ryuer ren- ne in blood and w(t) brayn and þ(t) semede wel in his werres
