quod he now J se of folk a faire compaignye and wel appar railled. J wele gon aȝens ham and wiþ ham to mete and ha(~) assaile // And S(ire) Hughe þe Spenser saugh þe falsnesse of hy(~) and þ(e) tresoun and saide to him .o. trayto(ur) take and p(ro)uede ȝour falsnesse shal nouȝt auayle ȝow. and Hughe þ(e) Spenser com maundede anon for to bynde him and in al haste wente aȝens here enemys and quelde of þe Scottes .xxij. M(l). for þ(e) Scottes had þ(t) tyme no man w(t) ham of hono(ur) sauf sire Pat(ri)k Grah(a)m þ(t) manliche faught and long time. and at þe last he was quelde // And þo saide þe Englisshe me(~) in rep(ro)ue of þ(e) Scott(es) This staterand Scottis holde y for sottys. of Wrenchis vn- warr. erly in þ(e) morny(~)g i(~) an euel tymy(~)g went ȝe fro dunbarr. // Whenne þo þat weren in þe castel sawe þe scomfiture: þey ȝolden þe Castel vnto þe Englisshe me(~) and bounden hire bodyes londes and castels to þe king Edwarde / and so þey were take þ(er)e in þe Castell .iij. Erles. and .vij. Barouns and xxviij. knyght(es). and .xj. clerkes. and .vij. Pycardes and alle we re p(re)sentede vnto king Edward and he sente ham to þe tour of Londou(~) to ben kepte þ(er). How king Edwarde of his grete grace delyu(er)ede aȝen þe scottis out of p(ri)sou(~) þat wer(e) chyueteignes of þe lande and þey drowe ham þo to þe Frensshe me(~) þorugȝ William Waleys. Ca(o). C(mo). ottogesimo ix(o) Whanne king Edwarde had made þo an ende of þe wer re and taken þ(e) chiuenteignes of Scotlonde: þo com S(ir) Joh(a)n Bailloil and ȝelde him vnto king Edwarde and pulte him in his grace and he was lad to Londou(~) and whan king Edward was comen þeder þey were brought biforn hy(~) and þe king axede of ham how þey wolde make amendeȝ of þat trespas and lost þat þey had done him and þey pulte ham in his mercy // Lordinges quod þe king.
