Description:
The words ' Edward I ' are written in the top margin. There is a catchword in the bottom right of the margin. The tale of how Lewelyn rises up again against King Edward and is again quelled. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' H ' introduce the tale of how Lewelyn's brother David was made a knight, and of how crimes of bad coinage in London were punished. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

neral p(ar)lement at Westmynstr(e) and þ(er)e he made þe statutȝ for defaute of lawe by com(~)une assent of alle his baron(~)age: and at Estr(e) next sewynge: þe king sente by his lettre to .Lewelyn p(ri)n- ce of Walys þat he shulde come to p(ar)lement for his lande and for his holdynge in Walys as þe strengthe of þe l(et)re obligatorie witnessede // þo Lewelyn had scorn and despite of þe kinges com(~)aundeme(~)t. and for pure wraþ by gan aȝen for to werre aȝen vppon king Edwarde. and destroyede his landes // And þo king Edward herde þis tidinge: he wax wonder wroth vnto Lewelyn: and in haste assemblede his peple and wente hy(~) toward Walys. and werrede so vppon Lewelyn. þe p(ri)nce til þat he broughte him in muche sorwe and dissese // And Lewelyn saugh þat his defence mighte nouȝth him auayle and come aȝen and ȝelde him to þe kinges g(ra)ce and c(ri)ede him mercy and long tyme knelede bifore þe kinges feet // þe king had of him(~) piete and comaunded him for to arise and for his mekenesse forȝaf him his wraþ: and to him sayde: þat ȝif he toke on amys aȝens him anoþ(er) time þat he wolde destroie him for eu(er)more // David þat was Leweln(us) broþ(er) þ(t) same time duellede with king Edward and was a fel man and a sotel and en- vious and fer castynge and muche tresoun þoughte and euer more held him stille for to wite and aspie þe kinges wille and eu(er)more made good semblaunt and semede so trewe þat no man mighte p(er)ceyue his falsnesse. How Lewelyn þorugh engining of David his broþ(er) werrede aȝen vppon king Ed [...] warde Ca(o) C(mo). lxiij(o). Hit was nouȝt longe after [...] þat time þat king Edward ne ȝaf .dauid þa(t) was: Lewelyn(us) broþer þe Lordsshipe of ffrodesh(a)m and made him a knyȝt & so muche hono(ur) dede he neu(er)e after to no man of Walys for enchesoun of him // king Edward helde his p(ar)lemen(~)t at Lon- dou(~). whanne he had done in Walys al þat he wolde and chaungede his monee þat þo was foule cotte and rounded wherfore þe com(~)une peple playnede ham wonder sore so þat þe king lete enquere of ham þat suche trespas deden: and .iij.
