þere was quelde S(ir) Simond de Mou(~)tfort Hugh þe Spenser and Mountfort þat was Rauf Bassetes fader of Draitou(~) & oþere manye grete lordes // And whanne þis bataile was don alle þe gentiles þat had ben with þe Erl Symound were disherited and þey ordeignede ham to gedere and dede mu- che harme to al þe lond for þey destroiede hire enemys in al þat þey mighte Of þe sege of Kemworth and how þe gentile men were disheritede þorugh counceil of lordes of þe reaume of Engelonde and how þey come aȝen & had [...] here landes . Ca(o). lix(no). And in þe ȝere next comynge in May þe ferþe day bifore þe feste of sent Du(~)stou(~). was a bataile and scomfiture at Chesterfelde of h(a)m þat were dis- heritede and þ(er) manye of ham were quelde and Robert erl of fferers þere was take and also Badewyn Wake & Joh(a)n de la haye w(t) muche sorwe scapede þennes. and in sent Joh(~)nes eue þe Baptist þo next sewynge bigan þe sege of þe castel of Kenilworth. and þe sege laste til sent Thom(a)s eue þe apostel. in which day S(ire) Hughe Hastinge had þe castel for to kepe þat ȝelde vp þe castel vnto þe king in þis manere: þat him self and alle þe oþ(er)e þat were w(t)- inne þe castel. shulde haue hire lif and lyme and as mu- che þing as þey had þ(er)inne boþe hors and harneys and foure dayes of respite for to deliu(er)e clanliche þe castel of ham self/ and of alle manere þing þat þey had wiþinne þe castel. and so þey wente fram þe castel and þe king and his men wente þo in to þe castel // And S(ire) Symound de Mountfort þe ȝongere and þe Countasse his mooder were fled ouer see in to ff(ra)unce and þ(er)e helde ham as pe- ple þat were exiled out of Engelonde for eu(er)more // And sone after it was ordeynede by þe legat Octobou(~). and by oþere grete lordes. þe wiseste of Engelonde. þat alle þo þat had ben aȝens þe king and were disherited shulde haue aȝen hire landes and by greuous raunsom aftir þat it was ordeigned and þus þey were accorded w(t) þ(e) king
