The word 'John' is written in the top margin of the folio. The tale of how the barons conspire against King John and how he looks abroad for help to defend his land. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial 'W' introduce the tale of how Lowys (Louis), the King of France's son, invades England. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

Joh(a)n. and brente his tounes & robbede his folc. and dede al þe sorwe þat þey myghte and made ham as st(ro)nge as þey myght w(t) al hire poer and þouȝte dryue him out of Engelond and make Lowys þe kinges so- ne of ff(ra)unce. king of Engelond // And king. John(as). sente þo ouer þe see and ordeignede so muche peple of Normanne(s). and of Pycardes. & of fflemmyng(es) so þat þ(e) lande myghte nouȝt ham susteyne but w(t) muchel sorwe //And among al þis peple þ(er)e was a man of Normandye. þat me callede Faukes of Brent. and þis Norman and his compaignye spa- rede noþ(er) chirche ne hous of religiou(~)n þat þey ne brende and robbede it and bare away al þat þey mighte take: so þ(t) þe lande was al destroied wha(t) in o syde and in þ(t) oþ(er) // þe Ba- rouns and lordes þo of Engelonde ordeignede among ham þe beste spekers and wysest men. and sente ham ou(er) þe see to king.
